Things have been a lot of fun for me since I started building Li’l Dawg Amps, and I do appreciate all of the encouragement that I’ve gotten from everyone over the years as well as the instruction along the way. When Don came up with the idea for a blog I agreed right away as I thought it was a great idea. I’ve found that a lot of questions I answer on a daily basis tend to the same ones, and having a clearinghouse for them like this would be a good source of information as well as a real timesaver for me. I’d also be able to keep you up to date on new amps as they come along like the new 5F6A TopDawg LunchBox.
In the Amp Talk section I’ll be able to explain more about some of the options as that’s a common question. I’ll also be able to go into a bit more detail on topics like how I might voice an amp for a customer’s specific needs, how to get more headroom, attenuator use, pre-amp overdrive vs. power tube overdrive (non-master vs. master volume), etc. Other topics could be suggestions for new circuit builds, or converting an existing chassis over to another build.
I’ll also be able to discuss my thoughts on the various cabinet & speaker configurations that I’ve used with Li’l Dawg Amps over the years. Another aspect of this would be how to use various cabinet & speaker configurations to achieve a specific goal like reduced volume for recording while still maintaining full on overdrive with a larger amp, or using multiple cabs with a small amp for more sound. I’ve even put some time in on an isolation cab which turned out great and was a good learning experience for me.
Another good reason that this is very timely is that the site I had been using for the DawgPound kept changing it’s format so audio & video clips were being dropped without notice, but with the new Customer Corner we don’t have to worry about that anymore.
So I’m looking forward to putting my thoughts & experiences with Li’l Dawg Amps in a central location along with answering your questions as they come along as well.
as always, have fun
