The TopDawg
The TopDawg is based on the tweed narrow panel 1959 5F6A Bassman circuit, one of the legendary amplifiers that came out of Fullerton in the 1950s. The amp had a 4x10 speaker configuration that offered lots of clean headroom, more than enough volume for any venue at the time, and loads of overdrive when you pushed it. Originally designed for the bass, guitar players found it to be the amp to have and the rest is history.
Features of the TopDawg are Normal & Bright channels with high & low inputs on each, separate volume controls, as well as shared treble, mid, bass, and presence controls.
The traditional tube compliment is 1 GZ34, 2 5881, 2 12AX7 and 1 12AY7. I offer JJ sets of 1 GZ34, 2 6L6GC, 2 12AX7 and 1 12AT7 as current production tubes.
I also offer different output transformers to match your need from 35 watt to 60 watt on the TopDawg.
The TopDawg is available as a chassis build in aluminum, chrome, or as a self-contained head I call the LunchBox as well as the traditional tweed combo or head. Different speaker configurations are also available upon request.
